Meghan McCain!

Oy vey!
This chick had me with her smile and zaftig good looks, but I'd never reward a Republican with a 'fan letter'...
She is not a 'plus sized model', and anyone thinking that is really messed up in the head. I'm no chubby-chaser, but there is something kind of scary about the too skinny 'ideal' that the fashion biz proclaims as perfection. More like concentration camp heroin chic... skinny chicks need help, please feed them!

American 'Death Squads'?

Well, of course. You didn't really think we'd fight the war on terror from the moral high ground when we can get dirty in the filth and muck of revenge?
Investigative reporter scion Seymour Hersh is working on a new book and mentioned the black specter of American death squads while speaking in Minnesota.
The audio is here.

The relevant excerpt:
"Right now, today, there was a story in the New York Times that if you read it carefully mentioned something known as the Joint Special Operations Command -- JSOC it’s called. It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently. They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. They did not report to the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff or to Mr. [Robert] Gates, the secretary of defense. They reported directly to him. ...
"Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on. Just today in the Times there was a story that its leaders, a three star admiral named [William H.] McRaven, ordered a stop to it because there were so many collateral deaths.
"Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us."

Watch the Watchmen!

I took some time off to see the long-awaited film version of the graphic novel (comic book for adults) The Watchmen. I was surprised to see the Small Man of the Big House played by Danny Woodburn, who played Mickey Abbott on 'The Stand In' episode of Seinfeld. It was the best $6.50 I have spent recently and only wish he had a bigger part, pardon the pun!
